Mosaicos al Sol – Santander
Urban interventions by different artists in the form of mosaics installed on some of the facades of Calle del Sol.
The action is part of the annual celebration of the summer solstice. We have selected 5 Cantabrian artists for this purpose. We asked them to design a mosaic in tesserae with the collaboration of the company Hisbalit.
The design «FRITO» is a continuation of the series «Matilde and her broken egg.» In this series, the artist Lau works with painting, drawing, and sculpture. «This work is a nod to the collection, with a more casual touch. In the context of «Mosaics in the Sun,» the egg turns out to be fried. Our current social paradigm can lead us in that direction. The artist acknowledges the excitement of participating in the project. «I was delighted to capture the work in a completely different medium. I used an ecological material that appeals to me for its variety of colors and textures,» the artist adds.
