Morille – PAN Fest
PAN is a festive and convivial meeting. It brings together creators, such as poets, artists, and specialists in various fields and disciplines, with Morille’s neighbours and visitors.
PAN was founded in 2003 by the Town Council of Morille. The cultural association «El Zurguén» also played a role in founding it. Additionally, the Spanish and Latin American Literature Department of the University of Salamanca contributed to its establishment. This nucleus has since been joined by other entities and institutions.
Since its inception, PAN has had a clear interdisciplinary and multicultural orientation, as well as a consciously transnational vocation. In this sense, PAN is a wake-up call to public authorities and citizens in general. It highlights the need to routinely support and encourage contacts in all fields. These efforts must occur on both sides of the old Spanish-Portuguese border. Culture is understood as a fundamental factor for the economic revitalisation of these disadvantaged regions.
A commitment to the rural environment is also part of the festival’s essence. In this sense, too, PAN is a committed and programmatic event. It aims to revitalise the rural environment. In turn, it fights against depopulation and lack of expectations. These are evils that plague large areas of the interior of the peninsula.
